- Lionspeed GP steps up to Pro class in GTWC Europe Endurance Cup
- Bastian Buus and Ricardo Feller return to team
- Thomas Preining joins Lionspeed GP for the first time
After two seasons of strong performances in GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, Lionspeed GP is taking on its biggest challenge to date. The team is stepping up to fight for overall victory in the world’s most competitive GT3 championship, fielding a Pro entry for the Endurance Cup with a trio of world-class drivers.
GTWC Europe has earned a rightful reputation in the racing world as one of the most high-profile and competitive championships in the world, where the best teams and drivers fight on Europe’s most iconic circuits. After two seasons focusing solely on the Bronze Cup, Lionspeed GP now joins the fight for overall victory with an entry in the Pro category.
The #80 Porsche 911 GT3 R will feature the team’s iconic livery, reimagined in new colours through the support of partner Potentia, a North American-based developer of next-generation industrial and AI infrastructure. The mint and white machine will be driven by Bastian Buus (DEN) and Ricardo Feller (CHE), who are joined by Lionspeed newcomer Thomas Preining (AUT). All three drivers bring proven GT3 credentials, while also forming Porsche’s DTM line-up in 2026.
Buus is a long-time member of the Lionspeed family, first debuting with the team in GTWC Europe in 2024 and securing the team’s debut podium at the Nürburgring that same year. Last year, the former Porsche Supercup champion became Bronze Cup vice-champion in Sprint Cup, playing a key part in a campaign that included three class victories, overall pole position in Zandvoort and a front-row start in Valencia.
Feller, another name well known to Lionspeed fans, has long been regarded as one of the fastest drivers in GT3 competition. The 25-year-old is a former champion in both ADAC GT Masters and GTWC Europe, a two-time DTM race winner, and a Nürburgring 24 Hours winner. The Swiss driver impressed in his first season with Lionspeed and Porsche through his raw speed and strong racecraft, including a podium finish at the Nürburgring.
The team is also delighted to welcome Preining for his first season with Lionspeed GP. The Austrian, a graduate of the Porsche Junior Programme, is widely recognised as one of the leading GT drivers in the world. In 2023, he became the first Porsche driver to win the DTM title, and has previously competed in both the FIA World Endurance Championship and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The No. 80 car completes Lionspeed GP’s two-car Endurance Cup effort, alongside the No. 89 Porsche in the Bronze Cup. In the iconic red and white livery, Bashar Mardini (CAN), Patrick Kolb (GER) and Alex Fontana (CHE) will once again contest the championship.
