Lionspeed GP returns to Nordschleife for next chapter in Green Hell journey

  • Lionspeed GP enters NLS1 with strong, two-car lineup
  • Former N24 winners Ricardo Feller and Laurens Vanthoor join Laurin Heinrich in SP9 entry
  • Adam Adelson and Jamie Green join to obtain Nordschleife A-Permit

Lionspeed GP is returning to its home ground with two cars and a world-class lineup. The team kicks off the next chapter in its Nürburgring story by competing in NLS1 with fresh ambitions, headlined by an SP9 entry featuring three Porsche superstars.

The legendary Nordschleife has always been a home for Lionspeed, as it is at this circuit where the team’s journey into endurance sports car racing first began. Since 2019, the team has enjoyed multiple successes in both the NLS as well as the Nürburgring 24, most recently taking the SP9 Pro-Am class victory at the endurance classic in 2024.

The next chapter in Lionspeed’s Nordschleife story starts this weekend as the team fields a pair of cars in the 71st running of the ADAC Westfalenfahrt, the four-hour opening round of the NLS season.

Its effort will be headlined by the #24 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo, which will battle for honors in the top SP9 category with a star-studded lineup featuring Ricardo Feller (CHE), Laurens Vanthoor (BEL) and Laurin Heinrich (GER).

While Feller is the only driver of the three to have competed for Lionspeed before, both drivers have extensive experience and a proven track record at the Nordschleife. All three are currently also in the upper echelon of sportscar drivers worldwide, with Vanthoor and Heinrich also members of Porsche’s factory LMDh driver roster in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The team’s second car, the #980 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, has been entered in the CUP3 category to allow two high-profile international drivers the opportunity to secure the much sought-after Nordschleife A-Permit.

Multiple significant names have already completed this path with Lionspeed in previous years, most notably four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen, giving the Dutchman the means to complete a key milestone in his highly publicized Nordschleife journey.

This weekend, Lionspeed will welcome Adam Adelson (USA) and Jamie Green (GBR) to its ranks. Adelson has built a strong track record racing Porsche GT3 machinery in the United States, both in IMSA as well as in GT World Challenge America.

Meanwhile, Green is a familiar name to fans of both sports car and touring car racing, best known for his lengthy and successful tenure in DTM. Driving for factory teams at both Mercedes-Benz and Audi, the British driver won 17 races during his time in the championship from 2005 and 2020. Outside of DTM, he semi-regularly competed in GT3 with Audi, including three appearances in the 24 Hours of Spa.

The four-hour race kicks off at 12:00 local time, with free live streaming available in both English and German.
