- Lionspeed GP returns to CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa with strong package
- Team welcomes newly crowned Le Mans class winner Riccardo Pera to complete 24H Spa lineup
- No. 80 Porsche 911 GT3 R to feature Art Car livery in collaboration with Luis West
Lionspeed GP is ready to take on the biggest race of its GT3 season. The CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa forms the largest challenge on the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup calendar, during which the team will continue its Bronze Cup campaign with a special Art Car livery and a 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning driver as part of its lineup.
As part of the lineup for the No. 80 Porsche 911 GT3 R, Lionspeed is very excited to welcome newly crowned Le Mans LMGT3 class winner Riccardo Pera to the team for the first time. The 25-year-old will join as the fourth driver for the Ardennes endurance classic, teaming up with regular drivers Gabriel Rindone, Patrick Kolb and Ricardo Feller.
Just a few days ago, Pera stood on the top step of endurance racing’s most prestigious stage, driving a Porsche 911 GT3 R to victory in his sixth appearance at Le Mans. During the race, which stood out for its clean nature and extremely fast pace, Pera was the second-fastest driver on average, ahead of the vast majority of the LMGT3 field.
Previously, Pera secured two class podiums at Le Mans and won two additional FIA World Endurance Championship races. With his significant experience of both endurance racing in Porsche machinery as well as a proven track record in multiple championships, Pera is sure to be a valuable addition to the team.
“I’m super happy to join Lionspeed and my teammates Gabriel, Patrick and Ricardo,” said Pera. “It’s my first 24 Hours of Spa, so I’m really looking forward to it. We have a strong package and lineup for the Bronze Cup. I think we can achieve good results. Of course, after winning Le Mans, the goal for myself and the team is to go for the victory.”
For the 24H Spa, the team is also excited to unveil a special Art Car livery for the No. 80 Porsche, designed in collaboration with Berlin-based artist Luis West. West specialises in translucent artworks, something that is reflected on the car as West’s trademark gradient style has been applied to Lionspeed’s distinct design. Eagle-eyed fans will also spot a nod to the dark blue that features on the team’s second car in GTWC Europe Sprint Cup, which recently took a debut victory at Zandvoort.
Official track action for the 24H Spa kicks off on Thursday, but festivities for the world’s largest GT3 race really start with the traditional pre-event parade, during which the full field of 76 cars will drive to the center of Spa for an afternoon full of festivities. This will also give Lionspeed fans the first opportunity to catch a glimpse of the new livery.
