- Lionspeed GP kicks off 2025 season with historic racing weekend in Spain
- Four-car effort consisting of vintage Porsche and Jaguar machinery
- Team principal Patrick Kolb set for quadruple duty alongside Tim Mol and Uwe Kolb
Lionspeed GP stands on the eve of a busy 2025 racing season, with the German squad active in multiple championships and disciplines. The team’s classic division is the first to roar into life, kicking off its activities with a four-car effort at Peter Auto’s Espiritu de Montjuïc event at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.
Espiritu de Montjuïc is Peter Auto’s official kickoff of the 2025 season and will be held for the third time at the 4,657 kilometer Grand Prix circuit. Lionspeed has good recent history at the Spanish circuit, leading a chunk of last year’s 24 Hours of Barcelona before going on to finish third in class, sealing the vice-championship in the 24H Series in the process.
This time, the team will compete across three different historic racing championships throughout the weekend, fielding four cars and three drivers in total. Team principal Patrick Kolb is set for a busy weekend, having been entered in all four cars.
In the Porsche 2L Cup, Kolb will share the No. 24 Porsche 911 2.0L SWB with the returning Tim Mol, while teaming up with Uwe Kolb behind the wheel of the No. 82 machine. The two Kolbs then partner up again behind the wheel of a 1974 Porsche 911 3.0 RSR as part of the one-hour Classic Endurance Racing race.
Finally, Mol also brings back his 1962 Jaguar E-Type Semi-Lightweight for the two-hour Sixties Endurance Race on Saturday evening, which starts at 18:00 local time and is set to run into darkness as the Spanish sun sets an hour after the start time.
While Sixties Endurance is the only series out of the three to have its race on Saturday, all activities on the weekend follow a similar pattern as track action for all three classes kicks off with a single, 40-minute practice session, followed by one qualifying session and one race.
The racing action across both Saturday and Sunday will be broadcast live on the Peter Auto YouTube channel. Also stay tuned to Lionspeed GP’s social media channels for the latest updates from Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
