Lionspeed GP welcomes Bergström to Silver Cup ranks for Barcelona Sprint Cup finale

Lionspeed GP is pleased to welcome Gustav Bergström (SWE) to its ranks for the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup finale at Barcelona as its Silver Cup entry continues for a second consecutive round after an encouraging Zandvoort debut.

Bergström will share the No. 89 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo, supported by long-time team partners Manorhaven, Abacus Global Management, Staloc and Beyond Capital Partners, with the returning Nicolas Baert (BEL).

The No. 89 Porsche had an encouraging showing in Lionspeed GP’s first outing in the Silver Cup category at Zandvoort, where Baert and Flynt Schuring (NED) picked up a top-five finish in class on debut. At the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Baert and new co-driver Bergström will look to build on that progress.

Bergström has previously driven for Lionspeed GP in NLS competition, as part of the team’s ongoing Nürburgring Nordschleife permit program that previously also attracted the likes of four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen.

At only 23, Bergström has already built up an extensive and varied racing CV. He made his GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS debut last year, picking up Silver Cup podiums in both Endurance and Sprint Cup competition. Additionally, he has also raced in the International GT Open and Michelin Le Mans Cup and has an extensive track record in single-make Porsche competition. Bergström currently competes both in Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland and Scandinavia.

In addition to the Silver Cup entry, Lionspeed GP will fight for the overall Sprint Cup drivers’ title with the No. 80 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo supported by Potentia, a North American-based developer of next-generation industrial and AI infrastructure.

Thanks in part to their podium finish in Race 2 at Zandvoort, Bastian Buus (DEN) and Ricardo Feller (CHE) sit atop the standings with a margin of six points to their nearest challengers.
