Lionspeed GP returned to winning ways in the fourth round of the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup season, reigniting its championship bid after coming out on top in a red-flagged race at Magny-Cours.

Ricardo Feller (CHE) and Bastian Buus (DEN) reunited behind the wheel of the No. 80 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo, supported by Potentia, a North American-based developer of next-generation industrial and AI infrastructure. The two Porsche stars most recently scored a podium finish at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli and arrived at Circuit de Magny-Cours third in the overall drivers’ standings.

Lionspeed GP had previous winning history at the circuit, claiming a Bronze Cup class victory last year, something the team now looked to build on, as part of an already historic first season in the Pro category.

The opening race on Saturday evening saw Buus and Feller fight back through the pack from P21 to 11th place after a difficult qualifying. During the Sunday race the team was able to once more claim a podium finish, marking the teams third season victory after the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa victory in June.

Starting fourth, Feller ran in strong contention in the leading pack when a significant accident further down the field led to a red flag and a 30-minute delay for barrier repairs.

Once the race restarted, the pit window opened within 2 laps. The Lionspeed GP pit-crew once more showed their strength with the fastest pitstop of the race that allowed Buus to take over the No. 80 Porsche in the lead of the race, which the danish rising star controlled to claim the team’s second Sprint Cup win of the season.

With strong results in Brands Hatch and the podium finish at Misano, Lionspeed with Feller and Buus remain firmly in contention for the Sprint Cup title. They currently sit second in the standings, 2,5 points behind the championship leaders. With 35 points on offer across each of the two remaining weekends, the team will have plenty of opportunities to close the gap and continue to battle for the title.

“I could put some pressure on the Audi, but not enough to overtake,” said Feller, “But we knew we have a very strong crew in the pitstops, so we came as soon as we could. This worked out perfectly. Once more we have the fastest pitstop of the weekend, so I’m very, very proud of the whole team. It’s a fully deserved victory and a very good day for the championship hunt.”

Lionspeed GP’s GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS season continues with the next round of the Endurance Cup season, held at the Nürburgring in Germany on August 28-30.
