- Lionspeed GP ready for weekend of historic racing at Circuit Paul Ricard
- Team to field five cars across four different series
- Team principal Patrick Kolb to pull triple duty in wide variety of machinery
While the modern GT3 racing season is nearing its conclusion, Lionspeed GP’s classics division remains busy with one of its most important fixtures coming up. The team will field a total of five cars at Peter Auto’s Dix Mille Tours event at Circuit Paul Ricard.
Lionspeed is highly familiar with the Le Castellet circuit, located on the French riviera, having already competed there twice before this year in GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS and the Michelin 24H Series. This weekend, the track hosts one of Peter Auto’s most significant events, as the 2010 edition of Dix Mille Tours was where the organizer laid the foundation for its historic racing activities as they are today.
In total, Lionspeed will be represented at the event with five different cars in three different series, bringing a wide variety of cars. While most of these will be Porsches, the team’s familiar 1962 Jaguar E-Type Semi-Lightweight will be the exception.
The elegant British racer will compete in the two-hour Sixties Endurance race, with Tim Mol and team principal Patrick Kolb sharing driving duties. The race, held on Saturday evening, will come with a particular twist: starting just after eight o’clock in the evening and running into the night.
Kolb is set for a busy weekend of action at Le Castellet, pulling triple duty across three different series. In addition to his Jaguar activities, he will also compete in Sunday’s one-hour Classic Endurance Racing 1 (CER1) contest aboard the 1974 Porsche 911 3.0 RSR alongside Uwe Kolb. Finally, he will pilot one of two Porsche 911 2.0L SWBs for the 90-minute Porsche 2L Cup race on Saturday afternoon.
The team’s fleet of five cars is competed by Johannes Dujsik’s Porsche 997 GT3 RSR, which will see action in the pair of 40-minute Endurance Racing Legends 2 (ERL2) races on Saturday and Sunday. Dujsik notably previously drove the Porsche at the Le Mans Classic event back in early July, where he scored a podium at the legendary Circuit de La Sarthe.
Track action for all series will kick off on Friday with practice for the 2L Cup, Sixties Endurance and CER1, while ERL 2’s Saturday running will consist of two qualifying sessions. All action will be streamed live on the Peter Auto YouTube channel.
